Nottingham Contemporary has announced SALMA TUQAN as Director, commencing March next year.

Tuqan is currently Deputy Director of Delfina Foundation, where she has been responsible for the non-profit organisation's strategic vision, expanding on its collaborative and partnership work and building on its engagement with Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and the MENASA regions.

She is a former Contemporary Middle East Curator at the V&A, where she co-founded the museum's Crisis programme, focused on cultural heritage from the perspective of collective and individual action.

Tuqan says she has always admired Nottingham Contemporary’s collaborative spirit and open-ended research led approach.

“I’m grateful to be entrusted with stewarding the organisation’s next chapter and am looking forward to working with the team and board to build on its unique character and collectively imagine its future.”

Nottingham Contemporary Chair MATT SYMONDS says he is delighted to welcome Tuqan.

“Salma's expertise in cultural leadership and international curatorial experience will bring a fresh perspective to our organisation, its programme, and to the city of Nottingham.”
