MOIRA LASCELLES is to become UP Projects’ Executive Director & Head of Partnerships.

As the public art organisation moves to a shared leadership model, Lascelles will work closely alongside Founder and Artistic Director EMMA UNDERHILL

Together with Underhill, Lascelles will oversee the strategic direction and management of the organisation, while also leading on partnership projects to develop site responsive public art strategies, commissions and engagement projects.

Following a period as a freelance consultant for UP Projects, Lascelles became their Deputy Director in 2020.

She is also a mentor at Arts Emergency, working with young people to increase opportunities and access to the creative industries.

She has over a decade of experience in curating and delivering socially engaged projects in the public realm, collaborating with organisations including the Barbican, V&A and the British Council to develop exhibitions, strategies and live projects.

“I firmly believe moving to a shared leadership model will enable innovation, new thinking and support the growth and development of the organisation,” Underhill said.

“I am excited to embark on the next chapter in collaboration with Moira, whose skills and expertise have already significantly contributed to our success.”

Lascelles added that she is “delighted” to continue working with Underhill to “champion an approach to public art commissioning that focuses on engaging and empowering communities to have a voice”.

“Collaboration has always been central to UP Projects' work, and I look forward to forging new partnerships with public, private and culture sector organisations that also believe in the power of artists to bring about social change.”
