Imperial War Museum elects Chair and Digital Trustee

Imperial War Museum (IWM) has named Sir GUY WESTON Chair, effective 1 April 2024.

Weston has been a member of the Board since 2019.

As Chair, he succeeds MATTHEW WESTERMAN, Board member at IWM for nine years before becoming Chair in 2019. 

Weston is also Chair of the Garfield Weston Foundation and Wittington Investments Limited, and a member of the Council at Royal College of Music.

He said: "I’m very fortunate to be elected Chair at an exciting time for Imperial War Museums, with compelling new exhibitions planned for IWM London and IWM North, the 80th anniversary of HMS Belfast’s role in D-day and bold new transformation plans at IWM Duxford."

Prime Minister RISHI SUNAK has named RACHEL SMITH, Digital Trustee of the IWM, for a term of four years.

Smith is UK & Middle East Managing Director at SQLI Digital Experience, a digital and commerce agency. 

With expertise in digital and tech across the private and charity sectors, Smith combines strategic, customer, marketing and digital transformation experience with financial oversight and risk management.

She has experience in the cultural sector in digital, marketing, fundraising and communications, including at the Art Fund, Royal Academy of Dance and the English National Ballet.

Previously, Smith was an advisory board member of Youth Dance England, now One Dance UK.
