Jewish Literary Foundation

About Us:

The Jewish Literary Foundation is dedicated to celebrating and promoting Jewish literature, culture, and history through a wide array of projects, to encourage active engagement with Jewish books and ideas, cultivating a passion for the Jewish literary tradition.

Our work includes Jewish Book Week, the UK’s premier literary festival celebrating Jewish writing, as well as international literary prizes, writer and illustrator development programmes and year-round digital and in person events.

Having developed a new strategy and brand in 2024, we’ve expanded our mission to engage new audiences across a variety of platforms.

We are seeking a Part-Time Marketing and Communications Manager to oversee and drive our marketing and communications strategy across our projects. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the voice of our organisation as we continue to grow and diversify our activities and audience.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a year-round, comprehensive marketing strategy for all Jewish Literary Foundation projects, including Jewish Book Week, digital events, and educational programmes.
  • Public Relations:
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, crafting press releases, and securing coverage for events and projects. Act as a key point of contact for media inquiries.
  • Brand Management:
  • Maintain and strengthen the Jewish Literary Foundation’s brand identity across all communications and ensure alignment with our mission following our recent rebranding.
  • Social media and Email promotion of all activities
  • Manage and execute targeted social media campaigns across various digital channels, along with email marketing efforts, to promote the Foundation’s events, programs, and initiatives, driving engagement and audience growth. Additionally, develop ad hoc content to raise brand awareness and advance the organisation’s mission.
  • Analytics and Reporting:
  • Track, analyse, and report on the success of marketing and communication efforts, using insights to improve and optimise future campaigns.

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in marketing or communications, with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful brand strategies that enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Skills:
  • Strong content creation skills, with a talent for storytelling and an ability to write for different audiences and platforms. Proficiency in digital marketing, database management, and managing social media platforms and using email marketing software.
  • Digital Marketing Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, and digital marketing tools to drive engagement and reach new audiences.
  • Creativity and Initiative:
  • A self-starter with a creative mindset, able to develop fresh ideas for promoting events, increasing audience engagement, and creating content to meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Cultural Awareness:
  • An understanding of Jewish culture, history, and literature is highly desirable, but not essential. Familiarity with the work of similar arts organisations will also be a positive but again, not a pre-requisite.
  • Team Player:
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different teams, such as events, fundraising, and editorial, to deliver on organisational goals.
  • Organisational Skills:
  • Strong project management abilities, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
