Senior Lecturer in Performance at Leeds Beckett University
Dr Gillian Dyson is an artist, academic, and researcher in performance and visual practice. Her work explores identity, site, and memory. She exhibits internationally, including most recently with Konsthall, Gothenburg, Sweden, and at the Baltic for GIFT theatre festival. Dyson’s current practice focuses on a physical examination of feminine experiences of the uncanny and aging, communicated through movement and gesture with found domestic objects. “I make work about a woman’s experience. I’m trying to express what it’s like to breathe, think, feel, to communicate; exploring the politics of identity defined by things we surround ourselves with, spaces we occupy, bodies we become.”
