London night czar to quit
Amy Lamé, who has been London’s night czar since 2016, is to stand down from her role at the end of October.
Lamé said it had been “a real privilege to serve Londoners” in the post, which was created by London Mayor Sadiq Khan after his election in 2016.
But some have questioned whether Lamé had sufficient powers to boost the capital’s nightlife, with boroughs retaining control over licensing decisions.
The mayor’s office said she had been “instrumental” in reopening and securing the futures of venues such as Fabric and the 100 Club.
It is unclear whether Lamé will be replaced.
