WILL COWELL has been appointed head of acting at the Livingston-based performing arts organisation, The Scottish Institute.

Cowell will head up the national institute’s acting programme, which offers students training, performance opportunities and access to professional-grade studios.

He brings to the role experience in directing, acting and creating original work, having previously worked at Birmingham’s Performers College and the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA).

Cowell said he was “eager to get to work” and that the “institution and I share the same passion for innovation in actor training”.

He continued: “I’m excited to bring together my skills and industry experience to enhance the programme and help prepare our students to excel in their careers.

“I was drawn to The Scottish Institute because of its incredible focus on creativity, strong industry connections, and top-notch facilities – it was, without question, the perfect fit for me.

The Scottish Institute principal MARK LANGLEY added: “Will is an immensely experienced and talented individual who is going to bring an incredible amount of value to our students, ensuring that they are well prepared to start their careers.”
